OFED 1.4 only a month away

The next major release of OFED will be version 1.4.  The beta was made available on Aug 21.  You may download it at http://www.openfabrics.org/downloads/OFED/ofed-1.4/.  General availability of OFED 1.4 is expected by the end of October.  There will be weekly meetings starting the week of September 8 until OFED 1.4 is completed.

OFED 1.4 development is based on kernel 2.6.27-rc4.  RHEL 4.7 is supported.  These items are still missing:
- iSER (disabled from OFED now) -- expected to be ready in mid-September
- NFS/RDMA -- SLES 10 is almost done and should be merged soon
- MVAPICH2 1.1 -- expected to be ready in mid-September
- Open MPI 1.3 - Decided to integrate 1.2.7 now because 1.3 beta is not ready yet (if 1.3 becomes stable soon, it may added later)
- Extended QP verb - Voltaire and Mellanox to close on this by mid-September

There are still numerous bugs.  Tziporet will assign all bugs without assignee.  In the next EWG meeting, all bugs will be reviewed.

The current OFED 1.4 schedule from now through final release is:
- RC2 - Sept 17, 2008
- RC3 - Sept 25, 2008
- more RCs - as needed
