User Working Group making changes email lists

The UWG is reorganizing its mailing lists in an effort to continue serving subscribers to the former HSIR mailing lists.  Originally, the HSIR mailing lists were created outside of the OFA.  HSIR was an independent, unofficial forum.  Now it is part of the OFA, so it makes sense to organize the mailing lists within the OFA structure.

Some of the UWG’s updated lists will include end users only.  Others will be open to vendors.  Why have these separate mailing lists?  There are some end users who do not feel comfortable with vendors taking part in certain discussions.  They feel the conversations can be more fruitful when vendors do not participate.  This also allows the sector end users to decide amongst themselves what they want to convey to vendors in a unified voice.  A vendor hearing 20 different things from 20 different people will have difficulty discerning any useful information.

In the coming weeks, many subscribers to HSIR and UWG email lists will receive email notifications with links to new mail list registration websites.  This will allow them to register for the updated mail lists.

The UWG will auto migrate existing subscribers to the extent possible.  However, users with personal email addresses (e.g., gmail, Yahoo) or addresses that aren’t easily identifiable will be asked to re-subscribe.  They will be asked to show their professional affiliation so they can be added to the appropriate mailing list(s).
